Unemployment
Need Assistance Navigating Unemployment?
Because unemployment is handled through a state agency, your State Representative or State Senator will be better able to assist you.
You can find your State Representative here: house.mi.gov/
You can find your State Senator here: senate.michigan.gov/fysbyaddress
Michigan Works! may also be able to assist you if you are a first time filer. You can find a one-stop service center near you here: michiganworks.org/about-michigan-works/one-stop-service-centers/
Information on Claiming Unemployment
The Michigan Unemployment Insurance Agency is assisting those applying for unemployment benefits. For guidelines on when to apply, applicable forms, FAQ’s for employees and employers, and more, please visit michigan.gov/UIA or give them a call at 1-866-500-0017.
Please note: Website load times will be slow due to increased inquiries. Click a link once, and if necessary, wait for the response without clicking again. UIA recommends not filing on Mondays and instead to try and apply later in the week at off-peak hours.
The UIA released a video tutorial on certifying claims that can be found here and a helpful infographic on the process can also be found here.
Unemployment Identity Theft Protection
The UIA has resources to help protect Michiganders against unemployment identity theft.
