Rep. Stevens to Convene Subcommittee Hearing on Artificial Intelligence and the Future of Work

September 24, 2019

WASHINGTON—Congresswoman Haley Stevens (MI-11) will convene a hearing as Chairwoman of the House Subcommittee on Research & Technology today, Tuesday, September 24, 2019 at 4 p.m. ET in Washington, D.C. The hearing, called “Time Change: Artificial Intelligence and the Future of Work,” will examine the role of artificial intelligence in the changing nature of work and the workforce.

“Nearly two thirds of children entering elementary school today will ultimately end up working in completely new job types that currently do not exist,” said Congresswoman Stevens. “As the integration of artificial intelligence technology changes jobs and creates new jobs, there will be a significant need to ensure we are training workers to succeed at all levels, from the factory floor worker to the radiologist. I look forward to hearing from a panel of experts about how we can help our current and future workforce to be successful with the increased use of AI systems across all sectors.”
