Haley Stevens was born in Rochester Hills, Michigan, and graduated from Seaholm High School in Birmingham. Growing up in an entrepreneurial household, where her parents ran a landscaping business and hauled equipment in a Ford F-150, she learned the values of hard work, fiscal responsibility, and self-determination at an early age. These principles continue to guide her work in public service.

That sense of hard work and public service guided Haley when she served as Chief of Staff to the U.S. Auto Rescue Task Force, the federal initiative that helped save General Motors, Chrysler, and over 200,000 Michigan jobs during the Great Recession. She also played a key role in establishing the Office of Recovery for Automotive Communities and Workers and the White House Office of Manufacturing Policy. Following her work in the Obama Administration, she joined a manufacturing research lab focused on the future of work in the digital age.

In Congress, Haley has been a relentless advocate for Michigan’s world-class manufacturers and skilled workforce, championing policies that expand research and development, strengthen education, and support working families. She serves on the House Committees on Education & the Workforce and Science, Space & Technology, where she is the Ranking Member of the Research & Technology Subcommittee. Additionally, she was appointed to serve on the Select Committee on the Strategic Competition between the United States and the Chinese Communist Party.

Within her first six months in office, Haley helped pass the Butch Lewis Act, protecting the pensions of more than 42,000 Michiganders who had initially lost them to Wall St. greed. Her first bill signed into law, the Building Blocks of STEM Act, expanded opportunities for girls and students of color in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM), cementing her focus on equity in education and innovation.

Haley was a driving force behind the CHIPS and Science Act, a landmark investment in American research and manufacturing. And, as America’s competition with China intensifies, Haley continues to lead efforts to secure U.S. supply chains and reduce economic dependence on China. Through her committee work and legislation, she has championed smart trade policies, incentives to spur domestic production of critical minerals, and an innovation agenda that positions America for long-term success. And she’s standing up to Elon Musk and Donald Trump, writing the bill that would block DOGE from getting access to Michiganders’ private tax information., Haley is working to ensure that government infrastructure remains secure, transparent, and accountable.
