Casework Success Stories

Bryan Watson, Highland, struggled trying to get privatized Medicare Advantage added to his family's basic Part A coverage. After a month of being in the dark, he turned to our office for help, and we delivered his new Medicare cards 3 weeks later.

“It was nightmarish working through Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), the Social Security Administration (SSA), and our private insurer to get privatized Medicare Advantage added to our basic Part A coverage. The rules and applications are complicated with lifetime premium penalties if you mess up. After a month of being in the dark – no messages form SSA or Medicare, no one answering the phone, and the clock running out – I turned to Congresswoman Stevens for help. Only three weeks later, we were delighted to find our correctly updated Medicare cards available online. That couldn’t have happened without the intervention and efforts of the constituent service staff. They kept us apprised of where we were in the process and made sure that our applications worked their way through the SSA maze. Thank you Congresswoman Stevens!”
