Make Congress Drive Union Made Act
Congresswoman Haley Stevens and Elissa Slotkin introducing bills that would ensure Congress uses taxpayer dollars to buy cars that support union labor.
The Make Congress Drive Union-Made Act is made up of companion legislation introduced in both the U.S. House of Representatives and Senate earlier this week.
Members of Congress can currently purchase any car for official use, but Representative Stevens says the proposed legislation would change that.
“We want to see taxpayer dollars for those government vehicles being spent on union-made and American-made vehicles that support the great jobs that we have right here in Michigan. the jobs and the workers who build our auto industry.”
Stevens says she believes the legislation will see bipartisan support adding that she will continue lobbying until it passes.
