These days, as she races in and out of cities across the nation in a grueling, nonstop push for campaign money to hang on to her embattled House majority, even her bedtime hours are consumed with thoughts of how to win.

“She is masterful,” said Representative Haley Stevens, a Michigan Democrat who appeared with Ms. Pelosi to promote the benefits of Democratic climate change legislation for an electric vehicle battery start-up in her district just outside Detroit. The new company is providing well-paying jobs now and the possibility of American-produced batteries later.
“I don’t think we should run away from accomplishments, and I also don’t think we should run away from Democratic leaders,” Ms. Stevens said.
