Second town hall on Pontiac senior centers set for Monday

February 28, 2022

U.S. Rep Haley Stevens attended the town hall and talked with residents afterward. She said most present seemed concerned about transportation, as well as “building rehab, community centers – a real space for community – to come together,” she said.

The town halls are intended to help city officials hear from residents about how to best spend a $90,000 grant from the Colorado-based NextFifty Initiative, which aims at improving the lives of older adults and their caregivers.

The second town hall is open to people of any age, set for 3 to 4:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 28, at the Robert W Bowens Senior Center, 52 Bagley St. The Bowens Center is named for World War II veteran Robert Bowens, who served on Pontiac’s city council from 1974 to 1979. He died in 2014.
