Stevens, Slotkin bill aims to make Congress drive union-made cars

February 3, 2026

U.S. Rep. Haley Stevens and U.S. Sen. Elissa Slotkin plan to introduce legislation that would make it illegal for members of Congress to buy or drive anything other than U.S. union-made cars with their annual congressional budgets.

“Michigan autoworkers put the world on wheels, and they deserve to know their elected leaders have their backs,”

“This bill makes sure we invest in our American auto industry and the union workers that power it.”
