February 11: Oakland Schools Technical Campus

Today, I visited Oakland Schools Technological Campus in Wixom. It was so exciting to see our high schoolers getting exposed to some of the skilled trades, learning skills that can put them on a path to a high-paying job. This is what we're talking about when we say the next generation is going to lead our state's economy! The Oakland Schools Technological Campus is an incredible best practice right in our MI-11 community. They offer National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS) credentials, and CAD/ASE certifications for car mechanics. I am truly so impressed by this state of the art technical campus, right in the heart of our district. I intend to follow up on today's visit by partnering with this campus to recruit students, maintain resources, and hire teachers. These students are the next generation of engineers, skilled tradesmen and women, and they will continue to drive our regional economy for the next generation!
