AUDIO: Stevens Hosts Telephone Town Hall on COVID-19
More than 5,000 people joined Rep. Stevens’ second telephone town hall focused on the coronavirus pandemic.
WASHINGTON – On Sunday evening, Congresswoman Haley Stevens (MI-11) led a telephone town hall to discuss the response to the coronavirus pandemic, her second telephone town hall event focused on COVID-19 this month. Guest speakers included Michigan Lieutenant Governor Garlin Gilchrist II, Beaumont Health Medical Director of Community Health Dr. Asha Shajahan, and Director for the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity Jeff Donofrio. More than 5,000 constituents participated in the telephone town hall.
“Make no mistake about it, Michigan is absolutely a hot spot for coronavirus, and your government is taking every step necessary to make sure that we are prepared and ready to respond economically and medically,” Congresswoman Stevens told her constituents on Sunday evening. “So my message to you is the same as it has always been: we’re not going to let you fail.”
Congresswoman Stevens and guest speakers fielded questions on the eligibility for financial assistance under the recently-passed CARES Act, the availability of coronavirus testing, the potential for further restrictions on businesses and individuals in Michigan to stop the spread of COVID-19, transparency measures included in coronavirus relief legislation, and more.
