House Science Committee Passes Legislation to Help Small Businesses Safely Adopt AI
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Yesterday, the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Science, Space, and Technology passed the Small Business Artificial Intelligence Advancement Act, led by Rep. Haley Stevens (D-MI) and Rep. Mike Collins (R-GA), out of committee.
This critical legislation directs the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) to provide resources that help small businesses adopt AI technologies. It aims to offer technical standards, best practices, and case studies, updated every two years, to support AI integration in small business operations.
“Small businesses are the backbone of our economy and as we usher in the AI revolution, we need to ensure such companies have what they need to use these tools safely,” said Rep. Haley Stevens (D-MI). “This bill will allow the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), our nation’s premier science standards agency, to provide the resources needed for our small businesses to succeed in the mid 21st century AI environment.”
