Rep. Haley Stevens Supports Impeachment of President Trump for Incitement of Insurrection

January 10, 2021

In CNN interview, Rep. Stevens announced her intention to co-sponsor Articles of Impeachment.

WASHINGTON — This weekend, U.S. Congresswoman Haley Stevens announced her support for the impeachment of President Donald Trump, if the President does not resign following the violent insurrection at the United States Capitol on Wednesday.

Congresswoman Stevens co-sponsored a resolution written by Representatives David Cicilline, Jamie Raskin, and Ted Lieu to impeach and remove President Trump for inciting an insurrection.

In a Saturday morning interview with CNN’s Victor Blackwell, Congresswoman Stevens said President Trump “has proven himself to be a threat and a danger to our Republic and our national security, and he must be removed. […] We are in a moment of crisis, a national security crisis, and we need to use the tools in our toolbox to exercise our Constitution and bring some calm.”

“Anyone who cannot join the American people in denouncing the violence or the things that incited this violence is a traitor to this nation,” Congresswoman Stevens continued. “This is a catalytic moment in which we need to act quickly and expeditiously. […] I am not going to sit quietly and stand by in my responsibility and duty to the American people.”
