Rep. Stevens Announces More Than $330,000 Returned to Constituents in Nine Months
LIVONIA, MI – Today, U.S. Congresswoman Haley Stevens (MI-11) announced that her office has returned more than $330,000 to the people of Michigan’s 11th District over the first nine months of 2019. This was accomplished by relentless advocacy on behalf of constituents who were facing obstacles in obtaining their earned Social Security benefits, veteran and active military pay, federal tax returns, and more.
“I am proud to announce that my office has returned more than $330,000 to families in Michigan’s 11th District so far this year,” said Congresswoman Stevens. “I ran for Congress to make the federal government work for the people of southeast Michigan, which is why my office is laser-focused on helping constituents cut through the bureaucracy and red tape. Michiganders are looking for solution-oriented, pragmatic, transparent, and accountable leadership, and I will keep working to provide just that.”
In addition to quickly establishing an effective casework operation to help constituents navigate the federal government, Congresswoman Stevens and her staff have prioritized transparency and accountability by holding nearly 20 town halls, community conversations, and coffee hours in Michigan’s 11th District this year. Congresswoman Stevens has been recognized by the Town Hall Project as a “Standout Freshman,” and by Quorum as one of the most active Members of the freshman class on her official social media accounts. During the recent District Work Period in August, Congresswoman Stevens visited all 24 municipalities in Michigan’s 11th District over a 24-day period. Congresswoman Stevens’ staff have also hosted several pop-up offices, offering a full range of constituent services at convenient locations across the 11th District.
