Rep. Stevens Cosponsors Legislation to Raise Minimum Wage to $15

February 7, 2019

WASHINGTON – Congresswoman Haley Stevens (MI-11) made the following statement after cosponsoring the Raise the Wage Act of 2019, a bill to gradually raise the federal minimum wage to $15 by 2024.

“The Raise the Wage Act is good for workers, good for businesses, good for the economy, and it will lift thousands of hardworking Michigan families out of poverty,” said Congresswoman Haley Stevens. “American workers are more productive than ever, and they deserve better. This is about recognizing the value of work. Anyone who works full-time in the richest country on earth should earn enough money to stay out of poverty, and this legislation will ensure that a living wage is the law of the land. This bill would also give local economies a boost by putting more money in the pockets of low-wage workers, who will spend their extra earnings in their communities.”
