Rep. Stevens Spends Thanksgiving with US Troops in Afghanistan, Kuwait

December 2, 2019

WASHINGTON— Congresswoman Haley Stevens (MI-11) has returned from a Congressional delegation trip to Afghanistan and Kuwait with Members of the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs. Congresswoman Stevens spent Thanksgiving with deployed troops and received in-country updates on critical national security matters as well as issues related to health care, benefits, and transition training for military personnel and veterans.

“It was an honor to celebrate Thanksgiving with U.S. servicemembers in Afghanistan and Kuwait,” said Congresswoman Stevens. “Spending this special time of year with brave men and women serving overseas was a humbling and eye-opening experience, and I returned to Michigan with a renewed sense of gratitude for those who have made remarkable sacrifices to defend our nation.”

Congresswoman Stevens was joined on the trip by House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs Chairman Mark Takano (D-CA-41), Rep. Connor Lamb (D-PA-17), Rep. Colin Allred (D-TX-32), and Rep. Lauren Underwood (D-IL-14).
