Rep. Stevens Statement on 5th Circuit ACA Ruling

December 19, 2019

WASHINGTON – Today, Congresswoman Haley Stevens (MI-11) released the following statement after the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals issued a ruling last night striking down part of the Affordable Care Act, and leaving the remainder of the law in limbo.

“This decision leaves Michigan families and those with preexisting conditions in the lurch, as the Trump Administration gets one step closer to repealing the entire Affordable Care Act and jeopardizing healthcare for millions of Americans,” said Congresswoman Stevens. “I have spent this year fighting to expand access to affordable and quality healthcare, passing legislation in the House to intervene in this lawsuit, protect people with pre-existing conditions, and lower prescription drug costs for my constituents. I intend to continue this work in the coming year, regardless of repeated attempts from the Trump Administration to undermine our health law, a catastrophic outcome that will kick millions of people off their insurance coverage, strip away protections for people with pre-existing conditions, and raise costs for Michigan families.”
