Rep. Stevens Statement on Families First Coronavirus Response Act

March 14, 2020

WASHINGTONCongresswoman Haley Stevens (MI-11) released the following statement after voting to pass the bipartisan Families First Coronavirus Response Act, legislation to help American families during the coronavirus outbreak.

“We will not stop this pandemic unless sick people have the financial security to stay home from work and isolate themselves. We are facing a serious crisis in this country, and the Families First Coronavirus Response Act will give the American people the support they need as we work together to save lives and stop the spread of COVID-19,” said Congresswoman Stevens. “This bipartisan legislation will provide paid emergency leave to American workers if they are sick, quarantined, or need to stay home to care for a family member. The bill also ensures free coronavirus testing, protects access to food for those in need, and strengthens unemployment insurance for furloughed workers. These important initiatives will help us combat the coronavirus by ensuring that sick people can stay home without worrying about having their basic needs met.
