Rep. Stevens Votes to End U.S. Support for the Saudi-led Coalition in Yemen

February 13, 2019

WASHINGTON – Congresswoman Haley Stevens (MI-11) made the following statement after voting in favor of H.J.Res. 37, A War Powers Resolution on Yemen, Directing Removal of U.S. Forces That Have Not Been Authorized by Congress.

“The Yemeni civil war has resulted in unimaginable human suffering, and thousands of Yemenis - including women and children - have been killed by airstrikes, malnutrition, and disease in recent years,” said Congresswoman Stevens. “The Saudi-led coalition is responsible for several horrific acts of violence in Yemen, and it appears they may have also violated international agreements aimed at alleviating the humanitarian crisis. The United States must not back the Saudi-led coalition. Additionally, we must restore Congressional oversight over military affairs and that’s why I support this resolution.”
