STATEMENT: Haley Stevens Blasts Trump for Skyrocketing Housing Prices for Michiganders

June 24, 2026

WASHINGTON, D.C. – In response to President Trump cancelling the signing of the bipartisan 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act today, Michigan Congresswoman Haley Stevens issued the following statement:

“This week, Democrats and Republicans came together to pass a major bill to make it easier to buy a home, build more housing in America, and crack down on private equity buying up houses. But today, for purely political reasons, Trump refused to sign it.

“Everywhere I go across Michigan, I hear about the high cost of housing and how we need to make homeownership easier. I’ve been a proud supporter of this bill and even introduced my own legislation to reduce financial barriers to homeownership for Michiganders.

“Donald Trump has once again proven that he doesn’t care about Americans’ cost-of-living issues. Trump must sign this bill to lower housing costs, NOW.”
