STATEMENT: Haley Stevens Condemns Socialism

WASHINGTON, D.C. – In response to today’s vote on Condemning and Denouncing the Horrors of Socialism, Michigan Congresswoman Haley Stevens issued the following statement:

“I am not a socialist, and I do not support socialism. I’m a Michigan Democrat who believes in capitalism, democracy, making sure billionaires pay their fair share of taxes, and standing with unions in the fight for workers’ rights.

“This is a cynical, Republican-forced vote designed to present a false choice: that standing up for voting rights means embracing socialism. It doesn’t.

“We can build things in Michigan, create good-paying union jobs, grow American manufacturing, and defend every citizen’s right to vote.

“That’s the Michigan I believe in.”
