STATEMENT: Rep. Haley Stevens on Announced Deal with Iran

Washington, D.C. – In response to the announced deal with Iran, Michigan Congresswoman Haley Stevens issued the following statement:

“Donald Trump unilaterally pulled America into this war, spent billions of our tax dollars to distract from problems he faced at home, put American service members at risk, and sent costs skyrocketing for American families. At a time when Americans are struggling to afford the cost of everything, Trump now wants to spend $300 billion to “rebuild” a country we never should have attacked in the first place. Trump broke it; Michigan families keep paying for it.

“Michiganders have been clear: they do not want more wars. I have been advocating for an end to this war for months, and I’ve voted several times to stand up to this President and make that happen. Long-term peace in the Middle East is and must always be our goal. America and the world are no better off today than we were before Trump launched his reckless war.”
