Manufacturing Mondays

Last week I toured my friends small business and facility, @detroitbikes, for #ManufacturingMonday! We had an enlightening conversation on how to strengthen US-based manufacturing and global supply chains. Michigan is lucky to have some of the best American-made bikes right here in our state!

Livonia, Mi– Today, Rep. Haley Stevens (D-MI) announced that she secured $260,000 in federal funding for the Oakland County Health Network to facilitate the hiring of two mental health specialists who will partner with the Auburn Hills Police, Birmingham Police, and Bloomfield Township Police Departments. The goal of this partnership is to better assist those who are in crisis in our community while supporting our law enforcement officers who are so often the first and only responders in times of acute crisis.

WASHINGTON - The calls for reopening the international border between the U.S. and Canada in Detroit are getting louder. And two of the loudest voices urging a change in strategy just let her opinion known.

Michigan Congresswomen Debbie Dingell (D-Dearborn) and Haley Stevens (D-Rochester) both sent a letter to the president urging for a strategy that safely reopens the northern border.

Washington, DC– Today, Rep. Haley Stevens (D-MI) voted in favor of the INVEST Act, a five-year, $715 billion surface transportation reauthorization and water infrastructure bill that will create good-paying jobs and invest in communities like Michigan’s 11th District. Funding for the Beck Road Improvement Corridor was included in the bill as well as two of Rep. Stevens’ amendments to combat wrong way driving and increase research for more resilient infrastructure such as pavement materials.

Washington, DC – Tonight, Rep. Haley Stevens (D-MI) voted in support of multiple bipartisan bills that will increase funding for the National Science Foundation and create the first ever comprehensive authorization for the Department of Energy’s Office of Science.

Haley Stevens (D-MI), Vice Chair of the Science, Space and Technology Committee and Chairwoman of the Research and Technology Subcommittee, led a hearing on plastic waste reduction and recycling research. This hearing discussed current federal research as well as innovation that is still needed to address the plastics waste crisis in the United States.

Livonia, MI– Today, Rep. Haley Stevens (D-MI) announced her office’s Summer Leadership Development Fellows. Fellows are already working with small businesses, franchises, nonprofits and Michigan based companies who have a District presence and will learn firsthand about the role of the federal government in their day-to-day operations and pandemic recovery. Additionally, Fellows will regularly meet with members of Livonia and D.C. based staff to learn about their roles as Congressional staffers.
