WASHINGTON – This week, Congresswoman Haley Stevens (D-MI) introduced a new bill alongside Reps. Anthony Gonzalez (R-OH), Jim Baird (R-IN), and Katie Hill (D-CA) to support critical research to identify manipulated media content known as “deepfakes” that threaten to erode public discord, scam the American public and endanger our national security. Deepfake technology has developed rapidly over the past several years with no clear method of identifying and stopping it from becoming a major national security threat.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Representative Haley Stevens (MI-11) joined U.S. Senators Gary Peters (MI) and Debbie Stabenow (MI) and Representatives Tim Walberg (MI-07) and Dan Kildee (MI-05) to call on the Russian government to release Michigan native Paul Whelan, who has been detained for over eight months without evidence presented. Paul’s sister Elizabeth Whelan joined the Members, urging Congress to pass their bipartisan, bicameral resolution that was introduced this week condemning the Russian government and demanding Paul’s immediate release.
