Casework Success Stories
“My experience with Congresswoman Stevens’ office and staff was exemplary. Her staff submitted a USCIS expedite request on our behalf because of my husband’s cancer diagnosis and we were approved a few days later. While it is easy to feel that elected officials make promises that they do not fulfill or that our votes do not matter, I have always voted believing that the needs of many take precedence. Until now, I have never really considered the impact that an elected official can have on the nuanced issues within my own life.
“I am a veteran and was stationed at Camp Lejune during the time Marines were drinking, swimming and showering in toxic water. I needed information on where on base I was housed in order to determine my level of exposure. I needed my military records for this information. The Department of Defense (DOD) acknowledged receipt of my request in February 2020 and by September 2023 my request was still listed as ‘received.’ I contacted Representative Stevens’ office in October 2023. Her staff contacted me and processed my request to the DOD. Within one month, I had my records in hand.
“Social Security terminated my Medicare insurance and I was unable to convince them to turn it back on even after they admitted it was a clerical issue. I am a former cancer patient with multiple health issues – requiring multiple surgeries and appointments. No one would see me without my Medicare. After two months of futile attempts to solve [this matter] on my own, I contacted Haley Stevens’ office. The caseworker was kind, patient and understanding. They were able to get to the root of the problem and have my insurance reinstated. I am so grateful for their assistance.
“I cannot begin to express how indebted we are to the help we received from Congresswoman Stevens’ office. When my dear friend was being evicted from his rehab facility after being housed for eleven months, Ms. Stevens’ office worked diligently to successfully help Dan get his disability payments. This enabled us to move him into a safer facility. She cared for him, as a high-risk adult, and ensured us that she would be a never-ending advocate. We extend our heartfelt gratitude!” - Melissa, West Bloomfield

“The Office of Congresswoman Haley Stevens was able to assist in resolving a last-minute passport issue, and I am not understating that this was a life-altering rescue for my wife and I. Haley Stevens’ staff was prompt in responding both to my voice-mail and e-mail, quick to understand the urgency of my situation, knowledgeable about the passport process, and had resources to contact the State Department passport agencies directly (which I found the average citizen is unable to do). I would like to commend he passport caseworker in particular for his compassionate professionalism.
“I was having a difficult time with a student loan forgiveness program after completing ten tears of public service. After nearly a year of paperwork errors, delays and conflicting information, I reached out to Congresswoman Stevens’ Office. Her very helpful staff didn't hesitate to advocate on my behalf. They cut through the bureaucracy and got me the accurate information needed to alleviate my headache and move forward effectively. In the end, I finally received what I was entitled to — over $27,000 in federal student loan forgiveness!
“I am a senior and veteran who was incorrectly designated as incarcerated in another
state. As a result of this mistake, my Medicare health care policy was rescinded. I
nave never been incarcerated anywhere. Although I was paying for Medicare, I could
“My retirement pension was not processed by a federal agency for nearly a year after my retirement, with no explanation for the delay. All of my inquiries to that agency were ignored. I contacted Congresswoman Stevens' office and her staff had the matter straightened out in 48 hours. They acted on my request within hours of my initial e-mail. This was uncommonly speedy and competent service from a public servant, and I am very thankful for the assistance of Congresswoman Stevens and her staff.” - Robert, Bloomfield Township
