Washington, DC– Today, Rep. Haley Stevens (D-MI), Vice Chair of the Science, Space and Technology Committee and Chairwoman of the Research and Technology Subcommittee, led a hearing on plastic waste reduction and recycling research. This hearing discussed current federal research as well as innovation that is still needed to address the plastics waste crisis in the United States.

Livonia, MI– Today, Rep. Haley Stevens (D-MI) announced her office’s Summer Leadership Development Fellows. Fellows are already working with small businesses, franchises, nonprofits and Michigan based companies who have a District presence and will learn firsthand about the role of the federal government in their day-to-day operations and pandemic recovery. Additionally, Fellows will regularly meet with members of Livonia and D.C. based staff to learn about their roles as Congressional staffers.

I visited Altair in Troy for #ManufacturingMonday today. We talked about their hardware & software development for our Armed Forces & private sector. I was fascinated by their virtual proving ground concept with the Department of Defense! Really exciting things they’re working on here.

Washington, DC – Rep. Haley Stevens (D-MI) joined with Rep. August Pfluger (R-TX) and members of the Michigan and Texas House and Senate delegations to call for President Biden to address the arrest and subsequent detentions of U.S. citizens Paul Whelan of Michigan and Trevor Reed of Texas when he meets with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday.

Seizing what she called “an opportunity to make historic, lasting investments in child care,” Gov. Gretchen Whitmer announced a proposal on Monday to invest $1.4 billion in federal child care funding to make taking care of kids more affordable for working parents in Michigan.

At a press conference at a child care center in Troy, Whitmer announced plans to increase access to childcare, arguing doing so would accelerate the state’s economic growth and returning to work efforts.

This afternoon, I visited Witzenmann in Troy for #ManufacturingMonday. They’re hiring, completely diversified between the automotive and aerospace sectors, plus they’ve been innovating since the 1850s and have a ton of proprietary machines and equipment. All right here in #MI11!

Washington, DCWashington, DC – Today, Rep. Haley Stevens (MI-11) and Rep. Victoria Spartz (IN-05) introduced the bipartisan Accounting STEM Pursuit Act. This bill will help to establish the accounting profession as a valuable STEM career pathway and encourage diversity in the future of the accounting workforce.

Longtime grocery store owner Lisa Pardington and relatively-new restaurateur Sasha Richaironarongsongkram have faced the same stubborn hurdle throughout the past several months: an inability to secure employees.


Laura Petar, Waterford, tried for almost two years to resolve her Social Security problem. After obtaining her information, we were able to produce almost immediate results.

Today, I visited Oxus in Auburn Hills for #ManufacturingMonday. It was great to chat about their work in the medical device manufacturing field & exciting to hear they’ve created 60 new jobs in the past 18 months. (It’s also nice to see people’s faces now that we’re vaccinated!)
