Manufacturing Mondays
On September 23rd, I visited AVL in Plymouth! AVL develops, simulates, and tests powertrain technology for the auto industry. They are also leading the way as Advanced Driver Assistance Systems and autonomous vehicles are becoming more prevalent.
I went to American Axle in Rochester Hills to see their testing applications that make vehicles smarter, lighter, safer and more efficient. This dedicated group of experts runs the facility through three shifts meeting a global demand - very cool!
On September 4th, I visited the world headquarters of Nexteer in Auburn Hills! We put our heads together on workforce needs, trade policy, and innovating for the future. Thank you Nexteer for taking time to sit down with me! I'm truly inspired by your commitment to Michigan.
Seeing the Milford Proving Grounds for Manufacturing Monday on August 28th was one of the highlights of the summer. Mind-blowing engineering & testing surrounded by so much beauty at Oakland County's highest point. I am so inspired by the thousands of people who make this incredible campus work, right in MI-11!
On August 21st, I met with Resinate Materials Group, a company focused on "performance-driven green chemistry." We talked about how they recycle materials that would end up in landfills, and moving forward on sustainable chemistry solutions. I am looking forward to partnering on future recycling and sustainable manufacturing efforts!
On August 19th, I stopped by BASF Corporation in Livonia for a Manufacturing Monday and as part of my 24 Towns in 24 Days tour of Michigan's 11th District. BASF manufactures chemicals for a sustainable future, that are used in a variety of industries. From insulation, to running shoes, compostable polymers, to clean diesel, BASF does it all!
I went to ZF North America in beautiful Livonia- they truly lead the field of automotive innovation! Thanks to the amazing team of engineers who showed me around and let me test their products firsthand. All around, a terrific Manufacturing Monday.
For today's Manufacturing Monday, I visited Toyoda Gosei which employs over 350 people in Michigan's 11th District. We had a very substantive conversation about what they need to thrive: consistency, a vision for the future, and sound and fair trade policies. They are doing R&D and supplying incredible product throughout the auto industry.
For this week's Manufacturing Monday, I traveled to Northville to visit Soulbrain MI. This incredible small manufacturing business makes electrolytes for lithium-ion batteries used throughout the high technology industry. This Administration's trade wars are having a serious impact on Soulbrain's supply chain, along with thousands of other small businesses of Michigan's 11th District.
