WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, the U.S. House of Representatives passed the Malign Foreign Talent Recruitment Program Definition Clarification Act on a voice vote. This critical, bipartisan legislation, co-led by U.S. Representatives Haley Stevens (D-MI) and Mike Garcia (R-CA), will make sure that top American research talent is not recruited by our foreign adversaries, without stymying needed research collaboration and advancement.

Whelan, a security executive from Novi, MI, was sentenced to 16 years in prison on false charges of espionage. He has been detained for more than 2,000 days.

The legislation, already passed by the Senate, is expected to be signed into law by the President later this week.
The legislation directs the FAA to research and mitigate the effects of severe turbulence.

The bill would create a grant program to help nursing schools create, expand, or support accelerated nursing degree programs, which are geared towards training those with an undergraduate degree in another field as nurses at an accelerated pace.

The U.S. is currently in need of 7.3 million additional affordable housing units for families most in need. The State of Michigan has 190,000 fewer affordable rental homes than needed by this population and 28% of Michigan families pay more than 30% of their income in rent each month.
