Washington — Nearly two-thirds of Michigan's congressional delegation urged House and Senate leadership to retain and quickly pass $52 billion in funding for domestic semiconductor production Thursday.
The push comes two weeks after Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer agreed to move ahead on a bill aimed at increasing U.S. competition with China, which includes $2 billion set aside for production of "mature" chips used in the auto industry. The bill passed the Senate in June but had stalled in the House.

Yesterday was an exciting day! The House voted to pass the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, making historic investments in our country.
For too long, Michigan's infrastructure has suffered from extreme lack of investment; our roads are crumbling, water pipes are bursting, and power lines are easily downed by heavy winds. Our state will receive $8.97 billion from the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act to make much needed improvements throughout Michigan. This bill will invest in:

Today I traveled to Troy for #ManufacturingMonday to meet with Intecells, a startup battery manufacturer. We discussed how the federal government can be a stronger partner in supporting innovative companies like Intecells, and better promote US competitiveness in manufacturing/EV.
