How We’re Responding to the Trump Administration

Washington D.C. – In response to President Trump’s $1.5 trillion military budget request, Michigan Congresswoman Haley Stevens issued the following statement:

Washington, D.C. — Today, Rep. Haley Stevens introduced the Social Security Customer Service Act, legislation to reverse staffing cuts at the Social Security Administration (SSA) and restore reliable service for Americans. In the first five months of the current Trump Administration, more than 7,000 SSA workers were forced out—the largest staffing cut in the agency’s history. The result: a beneficiary-to-staff ratio of 1,480 to one, compared to 480 to one in 1967.

Washington, D.C. – In case you missed it, Michigan Congresswoman Haley Stevens introduced the Hold ICE Accountable Act, legislation to establish an independent Special Prosecutor to investigate unlawful conduct by Department of Homeland Security (DHS) personnel, including Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

This bill is her latest in a series of efforts to stand up to ICE, demand transparency, and fight for accountability after a pattern of violence, misconduct, and lack of oversight.

Washington D.C. – In response to Kristi Noem’s firing, Michigan Congresswoman Haley Stevens issued the following statement: 

“Under Kristi Noem, ICE killed Americans, used children as bait to detain their parents, lied to Congress, and terrorized our neighborhoods. She should have been fired a long time ago. We still must address the chaos and lawlessness Donald Trump’s ICE has unleashed across our country.

WASHINGTON, D.C. –687 members of the National Academy of Medicine, National Academy of Sciences, and National Academy of Engineering, including 10 Nobel Laureates, publicly endorsed the Articles of Impeachment against RFK Jr. introduced by Representative Haley Stevens (D-MI).

Signing in their individual capacities, the members issued a clear warning: science and public health are under attack.
